Title: Field Sales Engineer – West Coast

Reports To: North America Sales Manager

Our customer base consists of globally recognized technology companies, manufacturing firms and researchers. Some of our customers are the biggest in their industry, and many are solving the world’s toughest problems. By helping these companies with our equipment we are amplifying the impact that they make on the world. You will be working with a diverse customer base spanning semiconductor and electronics manufacturers, aerospace and defense companies, medical device manufacturers, and leading research institutions among others.

Position Summary

We are currently hiring a Sales Engineer to cover the Western half of our customer base in the USA.

Our Sales Engineers walk prospective customers through the buying process of our equipment and services. They guide them on the way to choosing the right equipment that meets their performance, budget, and delivery needs. They are specialists in surface metrology equipment and use that knowledge to assist customers during the sales process. Lastly, they work with the rest of the organization as the voice of the customer and greater market. 

Our Sales Engineers sell high value capital equipment. Firmly understanding our customer’s buying team, budget, timeline, and needs is necessary for us to propose the right equipment. 

Essential Functions

  • Acts as the main point of contact for walking customers through their buying process
  • Conducts remote and face-to-face selling visits
  • Investigates and documents customer requirements for upcoming projects
  • Help to compose and deliver quotes to current and prospective customers
  • Establishes new accounts through business development activities 
  • Owns the customer relationship and accurately maintains CRM data
  • Seeks feedback on products and services and reports back to internal resources in an effort to maintain continuous product improvement
  • Creates an annual territory sales forecast with the assistance of others
  • Secures orders for company products and services to meet forecast

Additional Duties

  • Assist in negotiating Terms and Conditions, Non-Disclosure Agreements and Customer Credit Terms
  • Liaise between customer and factory to confirm delivery of customer orders
  • Assists inside support engineering staff with customer issues
  • Contributes to the planning of new products and product lines
  • As assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Fundamental knowledge of metrology principles and concepts
  • Skilled at interpreting CAD drawings and other technical documents
  • Ability to determine a customer’s technical and commercial needs
  • Skilled at creating and managing a sales funnel and territory pipeline
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers and prospective customers
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency utilizing Google Workspace office products (docs, sheets, presentations)
  • Skilled at calculating discounts, percentages, and applying concepts of basic algebra 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related sales experience 
  • Preferred to have a sales background in high value capital equipment 
  • Preferred to have hands-on experience with metrology equipment
  • Able to travel 30-50% of the time, including by car or arline, as well as overnight
  • Must be located in the western half of the US

Position Summary

We are currently hiring an Applications Support Engineer to work out of our headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA.

An Application Support Engineer manages our customer use cases of machinery built for surface metrology processes. This position works closely with our customers and internal engineering resources to solve application-specific metrology challenges. Once the application is solved and the machines are built, this position helps customers install the equipment at their facility, train the customers how to use it, and also support ongoing application use over the life of the machinery.

Essential Functions

  • Be the expert in using and applying our equipment and software to solve customer-specific challenges
  • Review customer documentation and analyze customer applications
  • Interact with customers to define application requirements
  • Assist in testing and qualifying customer parts by measuring them on in-house lab’s metrology equipment
  • Work with sales and engineering groups to quote customer machinery and assist in the sales process
  • Front and back-end customer support regarding machine hardware, software, and measurement processes
  • Install and support equipment onsite at customer facilities worldwide, primarily in North America and Europe (travel up to 40%)
  • While traveling this role refines customer application requirements pre-sales, participates in the machine installation and user training, and in some cases supports existing machines that are already in the field
  • Customer training on equipment use

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of customer application and equipment support experience, preferably with metrology equipment and/or automation equipment
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university is preferred 
  • Hands on electrical and mechanical experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting machinery
  • Understanding of geometric tolerances and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong PC skills and the ability to use Google Suite products
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to participate in a multi-functional team
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced and growing business

Position Summary

We are currently hiring an Applications Support Engineer to work out of our headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA.

An Application Support Engineer runs, tests, and qualifies our automated surface metrology equipment. Most of the time will be spent working with the equipment in a hands-on capacity to support our pre-sales testing and post-sales production efforts. Time is also spent while working with our customers and internal engineering and manufacturing teams to solve challenges surrounding equipment use cases. In limited cases, technical support provided at our customers’ facilities is a desired responsibility of this role.

Essential Functions

  • Be the expert in using and testing our equipment and software products
  • Assist our production team in the final steps of the equipment manufacturing process
  • Run our internal lab equipment to produce measurement results for our customers 
  • Be a primary tester of our new hardware and software products
  • Provide technical support on sales opportunities for new equipment purchases
  • Provide front and back-end customer support regarding machine hardware, software, and measurement processes
  • Customer training on equipment use

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of equipment use experience, preferably with metrology equipment and/or automation equipment
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university is preferred, but a technical degree with experience is also acceptable
  • Hands on electrical and mechanical experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting machinery
  • Understanding of geometric tolerances and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong PC skills and the ability to use Google Suite products
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to participate in a multi-functional team
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced and growing business 
  • Ability to travel (roughly 10%) to support our customers at their facilities is desired
